Sahacharadi Kashayam Uses, Ingredients, Side Effects, Dose

Sahacharadi kashayam  reference is found in the Classical Ayurvedic text-book – Sahasrayoga. It is used for the treatment of hip pain and lower back pain.

Ingredients

Sahachara – Strobilanthus ciliatus
Suradaru – Cedrus deodara and
Shunti – Zingiber officinale – ginger

It helps to relieve the stiffness of the joints of the lower body.

Health benefits – Relieves pain associated with the hip and low back.
Doctors also prescribe Sahacharadi Kashayam for the treatment of –
Pain associated with varicose veins.

Dose

15 ml, mixed with 30 ml water, once or twice a day before food.

This product is also manufactured in the form of tablet – called Sahacharadi kashayam tablet or Sahacharadi Kwatham tablet.
Dose of the Kashayam tablet is – 1- 2 tablets 2 times a day before food, or as advised by an Ayurvedic doctor.

How long to continue?
This medicine is usually prescribed for a period of 6 – 8 weeks. The dose is gradually reduced thereafter.

What to do if the taste of this kashaya is not bearable?
Add more quantity of water before taking it.

Side Effects

Over dosage or usage for a very long period of time may cause burning sensation in the chest or worsening of gastritis symptoms.
Usually this medicine is well tolerated, without any side effects.
Seek medical advise for its usage during pregnancy.
It is safely used during lactation period and in children, in a lower dose for a short period of time.
