Chandrakanta is a type of Sphatika. It yields water if kept under Moon light. T is a compound of Sodium, Aluminium, Silica and Oxygen. Relative density is 2.5 and hardness is 6.

स्निग्धं शीतं पीतमत्रासमन्तर्धत्ते चित्ते स्वच्छतां यन्मुनीनाम ।
यच्च स्रावं याति चन्द्रांशुसड्गाज्जात्यं रत्नं चन्द्रकान्ताख्यमेतत ॥ (आ.प्र.५/१४४)
snigdhaṃ śītaṃ pītamatrāsamantardhatte citte svacchatāṃ yanmunīnāma |
yacca srāvaṃ yāti candrāṃśusaḍgājjātyaṃ ratnaṃ candrakāntākhyametata || (ā.pra.5/144)

Grahya lakshanas – Unctuous, cold, yellow colour, clear, devoid of Grahadosha, which yields water on exposure to moon light is suitable for use.

Qualities of Chandrakanta

चन्द्रकान्तोऽतिशिशिरः स्निग्धः पित्तापहः परम ।
रक्तपित्तप्रशमनस्तथा दाहनिषूदनः ॥ (र.त.२३/१८९)
candrakānto’tiśiśiraḥ snigdhaḥ pittāpahaḥ parama |
raktapittapraśamanastathā dāhaniṣūdanaḥ || (ra.ta.23/189)

Sheeta veerya, Unctuous, good for heart, relieves burning sensation, Pitta disorders such as Raktapitta.

Kshara / Amla swedana for 3 hours.

Marana

It is added with equal parts of Gandha,a Haratala and manashila, given Bhavana with Nimbuswarasa, chakrikas are preared and subjected to 3 – 4 Puta heat.
