Prajasthapana Gana – Fertility Herbs Review, Benefits, Disadvantages

Procreation is the important process in human life. It is the dream of every individual to get the healthy and intellectual baby. Even though modern science is not having any strong belief in this regard, Ayurveda and psychology of ancient Indian scholars has very strong view that it is possible to get the desired offspring by the rituals as well as few medicinal practices one can get the desired kind of healthy child. 

In this per view the drugs referred under the heading of Prajasthapana gana have the significance to contribute desired nature of the child if the parents adopt the practice of such herbs in their routine practice once after the purification of the body as well as by taking the proper rejuvinatory (Rasayana oushadha) and aphrodisiac (Vajikara bheshaja) medicines as per the need.

3. Shatavirya (Cynodon dactylon Pers.) – Whole plant
Diuretic, nourishing, antacid, aphrodisiac, wound healing etc.

4. Sahasravirya (a variety of Cynodon dactylon Pers.) – Whole plant
Diuretic, hair tonic, blood purifier, nourishing, antacid, wound healing etc.

5. Amogha (Emblica officinalis Gaertn.) – Fruits
Rejuvinative, antacid, cardiac tonic, anti diabetic, nourishing, replenisher, complexion enhancer etc.

6. Avyatha (Tinospora cordifolia Miers.) – Stem
Anti pyrertic, rejuvinative, blood purifier, liver stimulant, bitter tonic, detoxifier etc.

7. Abhaya – Terminalia chebula – Fruit rind
Laxative, rejuvinative, eye tonic, scraping etc.

8. Arishta (Picrorhiza kurroa Royle ex Benth.) – Roots
Liver stimulant, cholegogue, purgative, bitter tonic, scraping, anti diabetic etc.

9. Vatyapuspi (Sida rhombifolia Linn.) – Roots
Anti inflammatory, analgesic, energizer, aphrodisiac etc.

10. Visvaksenakanta (Callicarpa macrophylla Vahl.) – Seeds
Stimulant, anti inflammatory, analgesic, wormicide etc. 

Qualities,Therapeutic uses

Qualities in general and actions of Prajasthapana gana drugs:
Over all review of quality and action of individual drug gives us inference that the drugs referred under this heading are acting in different angles like by Rasa(taste) – Guna (quality) – Veerya (potency) – Vipaka (Metabolic change) and Prabhava (special therapeutic influence).

The drugs referred here are not similar in every respect with its Rasapanchaka aspects.It means that the drug action of Procreation of healthy sdesirable child is carried by thew special therapeutic properties or by Prabhava.

However they are having body purificatory, rejuvinative, wormicide, energizing and aphrodisiac action in addition to its influence over the mind (memory enhancing and intellect promotion).

Therapeutic uses of Prajasthapana gana drugs:
These drugs can be used in the cases like repeated abortions, where the couples are having the pre existing histories related to chromosomal abnormalities, genetic defects or some health issues related to parenteral characterization by carrier methods or genetically transferable somatic or psychological infiltration issues.

, Brahmi rasayana, Saraswatarishtha, Amalaki rasayana, Chyavanaprasha, Brahma rasayana, Durvadi ghrita, Cchinnaruhadi kashaya,Amritottara kashaya, Hareetaki rasayana, Aogyavardhani etc are the few important recipes prepared out ofg the drugs referred mentioned under this group of Prajasthapana.

Disadvantages

Disadvantages of Prajasthapana gana drugs:
As the drugs referred here is having possible effect over the chromosomes and genes they should be practiced with care and caution by the experts only. Or else it may cause some kind of defects in later period especially to the offspring. 

Simple formulations

Simple formulations that can be made from the above drugs and their application in routine practice:
Brahmi is practiced routinely by the pregnant so as to get the child with good memory and intellect. In this regard there is a custom of taking the chutney or fine paste in empty stomach or along with food.

Durva – Shatavirya (Cynodon dactylon Pers.) swarasa nasya also practiced in few parts of the Indian states to get the lustrous child.
