Purisha sangrahaneeya Gana Bowel Binding Herb Group Of Charaka

By Dr MS Krishnamurthy MD(Ayu), PhD.
In Sanskrit ‘Pureesha’ means the fecal matter/stool or bowel. Sangrahaneeya means that helps to bind or collect. Altogether Pureesha sangrahaneeya means the drugs which are capable of binding the stools or which help for consolidation of the bowel. This is very essential in the individuals who pass loose stools or those with the complaint of repeated passage of the bowel in un formed manner.

If the stool is not passed without proper form the individual may feel discomfort or he may feel irritation while passing the bowel. This kind of presentation of the stool may be found in various gastro intestinal disorders and few of the metabolic disorders (hormone related too).
