Romaka Lavana is called as Sambhar salt, as it is collected from the banks of Sambhar Salt lake, Near of Rajasthan. It is also called as Earthen salt.

Gujarati name: Saambhara Mittu.

Chemical composition

Sodium Chloride – 97.1 % w/w
Total Sulphide – 0.060 % w/w
Sodium Bicarbonate – 0.049 % w/w  (Reference)

Medicinal qualities

Sambhar salt – medicinal qualities:
Sookshma, Teekshna – piercing, enters into deep tissues and minute channels
Ati Ushna – very hot in potency.
Vyavayi – Spreads to all parts of the body very quickly.
Katu Paki – Undergoes pungent taste conversion after digestion.
Laghu – light to digest.
Vishyandi – coats the inner side of channels.
Vid Bhedi – relieves constipation.
Mutrala – increases urine volume
Deepana – improves digestion strength.
Useful in indigestion, Ama conditions, Low Pitta conditions and constipation.

Effect on Tridosha, Side effects

Balances Vata Dosha, but increases Pitta Dosha.
Side effects: It is best avoided in people with diarrhea, burning sensation, gastritis, sensitive stomach, high blood pressure.
It is best avoided in pregnancy, lactating mother and in children.

Interaction with medicines, supplements

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

Can this medicine be continued while taking supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic / modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take Allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then take the Ayurvedic medicine.
