My Work – My Life – Like There Is No Tomorrow

I get up early in the morning and workout… put my best effort on my muscles… like there is no tomorrow.
I hurry up with mundane routines to get to my laptop to start punching words to my blog or to reply to my clients….. like there is no tomorrow.

I pray to the Lord for the strength to do my life’s best work today…. like there is no tomorrow.
I think about my work all the time.. how I can improvise the blog, how I can bring a change in the lives of so many people.. like there is no tomorrow.

If I am reading a book or watching a movie, I try to absorb the most out of it… like there is no tomorrow.
Along with reading medical news, I also focus on grammar, English usage, software technical stuff  etc.. to put in the best set of words in my articles.. like there is no tomorrow.
While I concentrate hard to keep concentration and mental peace at mountain levels.

like there is no tomorrow

I try to hurry up with my work, to extract most out of the day,  like there is no tomorrow.
I try to forgive harsh words of others, try to gulp in all the frustrations, absorb all the sorrows, yet try to give my best to people  around me… like there is no tomorrow.
try to take care of my family and give valuable time to my friends… like there is no tomorrow.
I cry and weep hard if I get to know a bad news, I laugh out loud, relish and enjoy all the small fun of life. Ignoring what others think of me, I try to live close to my genuine self… like there is no tomorrow.

However,
I do not spend money like there is no tomorrow.
I do not drive my car fast like there is no tomorrow.
I do not brag / abuse people like there is no tomorrow.
I do not consume alcohol or smoke like there is no tomorrow.
I do not eat like there is no tomorrow.
Because I know, that, if at all there is a tomorrow for me, I would want to make that a better day than today.

The best way to make a dent in the universe, the best way to bring a change to this world, the best way to find inner peace and satisfaction, that I know is… to work and love people… like there is no tomorrow.

Well, I am not surprised . . . this is the only way to accomplish a mission which is much, much bigger than one’s life. All good people who did great service to humanity, “enjoyed” their life helping others in the same way. Dr. J.V. Hebbar, you are leading a saintly life and you did the right thing by sharing your thoughts and your routine. May it inspire many people to do great work.

The poem reveals the “Yogi” in yourself. It also reflects the awakened “Brahman” in yourself. Reading it was something similar to reading the “Sadana Panchakam” by Adi Sankara. Rarely do people understand the purpose of human janma and the duties we are expected to do towards the earth and our fellow beings.

Dear Tatiana, It is just the expression of my mind about how I deal with my daily routine. That’s all.
It is definitely NOT self-hypnosis. It is true and I mean every words that I have written.
      Purpose of writing this –
      – To express how I feel and deal.
      – I hope that the article may work as motivation for a few people.

I really like your articles and your insight! Thank you!
I like everything in your article. I wish there were more people like you who put their heart in what they are doing!
P.S. one point, I simply cannot leave out. You mentioned you “work out every morning … like there is no tomorrow”. I really hope you are employing traditional time-tested forms of exercise, like Yoga, for example. As modern forms of exercise are a bit over-rated, I think.
I learned it very very hard way, that our physical endurance is closely connected to our Ojas, hence, working out like there is no tomorrow is not as good as it is promoted to be nowadays, or at least working out in the manner that it is promoted – endurance training, aerobic exercise. There are lots of people who loved to exercise like there is no tomorrow and …. ended up with adrenal fatigue (Ojas depletion in my understanding). You mention you don’t spend money like there is no tomorrow. I believe working out is akin to spending money. Modern physical exercise should be seriously reconsidered, especially if it’s aeroboic exercise, and especially if you are challenging endurance level. So, several years now after I loved to run, and I am still putting back my health together…, and enjoying yoga.

Dear Millie, Your point is very valid. I do a 45 minutes of combination of Yoga poses, running, gym workouts and aerobics. I keep on changing the combinations so as to avoid boredom. Because I can afford only 30 – 45 minutes a day for workout, I try to put in my best efforts. In fact, the mental energy that is generated during workout turbo charges my day. My workout is one of the main reason behind my energy and enthusiasm throughout the day.

    Great! You are inspiring!

You just reminded me of Mahatma Gandhi’s words – ‘Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.’

I too have made this affirmation and tried but have fallen back many times. I would give another try TODAY itself!
