To one glass of coconut milk, add half teaspoon turmeric powder, half teaspoon dry ginger powder, half teaspoon crushed black pepper corns and quarter glass of water. Boil over low heat and simmer for a little while. Cool to bearable heat. Add jaggery or sugar to taste. Sip slowly to arrest dry cough immediately.

Thank you, Dr. Hebbar for this post. May I ask a few questions:

    a) How long can this medicated ghee last? What is the shelf life?

    b) Is long standing dry cough always due to Vata dosha disorder or could it also be due to Kapha disorder? Just trying to understand a little more here…

    c) If someone is not able to make this right away, is there something similar available in the market that you would recommend?

    Thank you. Kind regards!

sorry to digress, Dr Hebbar, could you please give some clarity on the merits of consuming aloe vera juice (popularized as a panacea by a yoga icon) and if so, recommended dose etc?
    thank you and regards

It also acts as a blood thinning agent and detoxifies blood.
